Closures

No full closures are in effect on Parleys, either Cottonwood canyon, or SR-224 right now, according to the live UDOT feed. Restrictions and incidents may still apply; the corridor verdicts carry those.

Road, weather, and camera data: UDOT Traffic, the traveler information service of the Utah Department of Transportation.

How closures work in the Wasatch

Parleys closes rarely, and almost never for snow alone: crashes, wind restrictions for high profile vehicles, and the occasional rock or ice event do it. The Cottonwoods close by design, for avalanche control, and the reopening estimate in the event text is the number to plan around. A natural slide closure is different in kind, not just degree, and its estimate, when UDOT gives one, is honest about that.

Every closure on this page also lands in the public status history, timestamped, so the record of this winter's closures is visible long after the road reopens. That history is how we keep ourselves honest about words like "always" and "never".
